Lihoba - Ho Tlala
Mohobelo - Sesotho Song and Dance
Linonyana li ne li lula Batho, li re ke lifate ka Mokomahatsi ka mona. Bana ke banna ba Basotho ba Mokorotlo le Mohobelo ba Hleoheng Ha Morena Motsarapane.
I captured these photographs while attending a feast in Mokomahatsi in the Leribe District in Lesotho. This was at a birthday party at a friend's homestead. His mother was celebrating her 79th birthday (in October 2006.
This is a Sesotho Traditional song-and-dance called Mohobelo. It is very colourful and enternaining with its breathtaking charging movements as well as the beautiful melodies that accompany it.

Intro - selelekela
This was inspired by a very good friend from Santa Monica, Lesotho. On Friday 27, October 2006, he sent me a very well written Sesotho "praise song". I was touched, and decided to respond likewise with my own "praise song". The appropriate Sesotho term is "Lithoko". These are sometimes known as "Lifela". Nowadays, the name is commonly used to refer to hymns. If you like, these are hymns as they also invoke some type of spirituality and connection to who we really are. Re Basotho, re tsoetsoe re le likheleke....Utloa feela.
